There are some who cook their dog food daily and I understand why. It’s difficult to find food that you feel really confident giving your furbaby. I cook for Cooper occasionally and when I do, it’s generally something simple like a stir fry. He loves veggies which makes this rice dish a wonderful go-to dinner for him.
Place chicken, vegetables, and rice into a large saucepan or Dutch oven. Stir in water until the mixture is smooth. Place over medium-high heat and bring to a boil, stirring constantly.
Reduce heat to medium-low, cover, and simmer until the rice is tender and all of the liquid has been absorbed, about 25 minutes. Cool completely before serving; store covered in the refrigerator.
This can be cut in half for smaller dogs. Combining with your dog's regular kibble, this recipe lasts about 4-5 days. Longer for small dogs. Make sure that the vegetable mix contains no garlic or onions!
